Dear Yuletide Writer,

Hello, and thank you so much for writing in one of my poor, neglected (okay, that doesn't really apply to Mad Men) fandoms! I'm sure I'll ♥ whatever you come up with. Hopefully you're not feeling too overwhelmed by all the details I provided--I know I went on and on, but I wanted to give you a sense of what I love about the various fandoms I asked for. If you have an idea of your own you're ready to run with, or if one of my suggestions sparked an idea, feel free to disregard this--it's not so much a set of guidelines as a list of things (some of them completely irrational) that delight me to no end.

General preferences )

Mad Men (contains spoilers for season three) )

Boston Legal )

Dollhouse )

I don't know what your spoiler policy is (when it comes to BL, mine's "gimme, gimme, gimme"), but there's a tantalizingly incomplete script for an ep of season five up over here.
3pipeproblem: (Toby is thinking)
Warning: tl;dr. And probably squee-harshing. For the record, I really did enjoy last week's ep, and the ep the week before.

Boston Legal: Court Supreme )
3pipeproblem: (most appropriate use of an emoticon ever)
Whaaaat? Why is BL listed alongside such shitty shows as being "on the bubble"? Mensa loves it!

Gragh. It's too early in the morning for a panic attack.
3pipeproblem: (Tommy headdesk)
You can stop giving Alan phobias any time now, Boston Legal.

No, really.

ETA: OMG STILL OUTRAGED. COMMENT SO I CAN CAPSLOCK AT YOU.
3pipeproblem: (McLovin approved)
It's been...oy, over a month since the reveal, so here we go. For [livejournal.com profile] yuletide this year, I wrote:

Bullshit, a Superbad fic for [livejournal.com profile] shanalle

Parallax, a Boston Legal pinch hit for [livejournal.com profile] das_kabinett

Ramblings )

Thanks to everyone who left feedback because I was far too lazy to reply to your emails! You're all very kind.

Regarding my poor, neglected character meme (honestly, anyone would think you people had things to do on a Saturday night), the characters were as follows:

1) Shirley Schmidt (BL)
2) Josef Kavalier (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay)
3) Chloe O'Brian (24)
4) McLovin (Superbad)
5) Alan Shore (BL)
6) Ari Gold (Entourage)
7) Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events)
8) Paul Smecker (Boondock Saints...I totally almost wrote Boston Legal)
9) Dexter Morgan (Dexter)
10) Stephen T. Colbert, DFA (The Colbert Report)

If Shirley Schmidt and Paul Smecker sang karaoke together... )

Where should Chloe O'Brian and Joe Kavalier go on a date? )

Can McLovin beat Shirley Schmidt in a duel of wits? In a physical fight? In a pit of jello? )

Ari Gold and Lemony Snicket are co-habitating, for whatever reason. Who's responsible for what chores of room-mate-ness? (i.e., who does the dishes, who makes sure the rent is paid, etc.) )

That is all. Thank you for playing.

Minor BL spoilers )

I'm superstoked for the (1.5-hour!) BL premiere tonight. Yes, it's true, most of the time the new characters suck, but conceptually they sound interesting (and I'm in favor of anyone who's capable of rattling Alan's cage).

In the meantime, I've been watching my new season three DVDs on the computer, which means I'm able to use frame-advance to discover ridiculously dorky details. For example, from the Halloween ep:

Why is a raven like a writing desk? )
3pipeproblem: (so stfu about it already)
In IMDB's Daily Poll, "Which of the Outstanding Drama Series nominees is your favorite?", Boston Legal is losing to not only every other nominated series, but also "I don't have a favorite, for I do not really watch television." (Yes, I have reproduced the original phrasing. It's that awesome.)

Amazing.

(In some seriousness, I'm happy it's been nominated and I firmly believe it's better than at least two of the other nominees, but...much as I love BL, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was probably not one of the five best dramas on TV last year. Still. ♥ And anyway, my favorite part of the Emmys is fandom flipping out when its beloved actors/shows fail to win. See: Spader beating Hugh Laurie. Good times.)

My housemate has an impressively loud friend over, which means I'm not good for much besides posting things I've already written. So, on that note...

Alan + Denny + zombies )

From now on, I think my fic(lets) should include acknowledgements. I am very much indebted to wikipedia for its article on shotguns. And also mucus (it seemed relevant at the time).

You know what, while we're at it, my cousin used to play this game all the damn time.
3pipeproblem: (empire of dirt)
I have so much to post about (including the new Chabon novel), but here, have some BL commentary.

Guantanamo by the Bay )
3pipeproblem: (roving eyes)
Um. Brief recap: I watched Boston Legal, drank a great deal of Pepsi, spent hours obsessing over this video/song/I hate you [EXCISED], then decided to stay up till 3 AM discussing everyone's favorite crack pairing with [livejournal.com profile] dien.

(Our interpretations of DOOM are largely based on [livejournal.com profile] iamdoom who is of course a great deal funnier and much more DOOMTASTIC.)

'Personal genius' rhymes with 'between us' )
3pipeproblem: (balcony time!)
I promise, the next post will have nothing at all to do with [livejournal.com profile] yuletide (for better or worse). But! The big author reveal came and went, and I was in Arizona falling on my ass in mud whilst attempting to play golf, but I figure better late than never.

I wrote Twilight, a Boston Legal fic featuring my favorites Alan, Denny, and Shirley for [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick who requested something featuring a lot of the characters. Since I usually obsess over focus on Alan, three characters passed for "a lot" in my book, and she seems to have enjoyed it, so I guess three was enough. In case you were wondering, you could probably identify the fic as my from the fact that a) it has Alan quoting Yeats and b) the title bears no relation to anything. At all. I also wrote a 200-word (BL) ficlet that's up on the Yuletide site if anyone's inclined to look it up. I really wanted to write "5 Times Alan Shore Ruined Christmas," but I had the idea (inspired by the real-life ruining of Christmas by my little sister!) at about 11 PM on Christmas Eve. Perhaps another time.

Oh, I also got a lot of wonderful (and very generous) feedback. To which I still need to respond. If any of my feedbackers are reading this, thank you!

The lovely Brick story that was written for me, Live a Little (The Two Things That Kill You Every Time) was authored by [livejournal.com profile] starrysummer, who I cannot praise highly enough. She even thanks Bob Dylan in her author's note! Again, if you haven't seen the movie, see it, and then read this.

Aaaaand, finally, I'm toying with writing Kavalier & Clay fic for the New Year's Resolutions. Someone requested Tracy Bacon in Hollywood, and...he canonically is acquainted with Orson Welles. It'd be folly to resist.
3pipeproblem: (OTP!!)
I don't usually post memes, but it called me Josef Kavalier )

Boston Legal )

Other than that, I've been feeling sick, and we workshop my horrible, horrible creative writing story today. 2/3 of it consists of a scene I know I'm going to cut. Good times.
3pipeproblem: (dorktastic)
HAHAHAHAHA.

Minor BL spoiler )

Today I saw an ad requesting a drummer for an indie rock band. The band listed its "influenzas": Neutral Milk Hotel, The Replacements, etc. I'm not making this up. Incidentally, "Some of Our Influenzas" would make a good band name.
3pipeproblem: (Alan the pimp)
BL spoilers )
3pipeproblem: (OTP!!)
Boston Legal! Featuring a very special guest star: Alan's self-control.

Well, it's more like a cameo.

eeeeIlovemyshow
3pipeproblem: (unhappy Alan)
Awwww, Alan. Awwwwwww.

ETA: Between this and House, gayest night of TV EVER.

[livejournal.com profile] nicalamity, where are you?
3pipeproblem: (such a good question)
Much as I enjoy seeing Alan breaking the law again (and I do)...the hell?

Has he been watching Pretender reruns?
3pipeproblem: (such a good question)
