nicalamity I will do that summary for you, and I did miss you! Although I didn't realize you weren't on until afterwards. All that 24 swallowed my soul.

Fantastic episode. I'd just watched the 10th episode from last season of TP, and there was no difference in quality. The show's improved so damn much since the first ep. Anyway...

I couldn't get my head around why Alan was representing skillet man (excuse me, Bernie). Well, obviously he'd been hired by him, but I don't see why Alan was almost immediately on his side and so convinced that he was a good person. To me, Bernie seemed nice enough, and I could see the good, kind person thing, but there was also something slightly out of whack--and you'd think Alan would've noticed that. Alan spends his first few minutes with Bernie humoring him, I think, but then he's really on his side, and that would make sense if Bernie'd made some sort of desperate plea, but he didn't, aside from his mention of her verbal abuse. Maybe it's a case of editing, again.

Or maybe Alan was projecting. I always wonder about his relationship with his parents, because there are so many episodes where he condemns someone's parental unit (Victim's Rights, Equal Justice, the one where he brought the judge's mother into the courtroom) and it never seems to be an entirely logical thing to do. Not that Alan is Mr. Logic, but usually his judgments have some basis in reason. Maybe it has to do with Paul and Victoria? Frankly, I wonder if the show's writers even remember that arc. (Heh, but they're bringing back Catherine Piper, so they must.) Anyway. I don't have a conclusion to draw here, other than he really doesn't like (bad) parents and it's not just because they're authority figures.

Oh! And Alan's completely random medical knowledge was so very amusing. I always had him pegged as the sort of person who remembers utterly useless information he happens to have read. Next week looks good, too.
