4 hours and then I'm free!

Molly leaves tomorrow. I'd feel sad, but I'm IMing her right now. Apparently, she goes online almost as much as I do. Right now we're dicussing stupid people and their netspeak.

Molly's great (I'm sure one day she'll read this and I'll just feel really embarassed). She's friendly, and funny, and very down-to-earth, which is so refreshing in a place like Lake Forest. Plus she came up with the idea of slapping people and saying "Listen, bitch." Someday, I will do that to a customer. Oh, yes. I will. And she actually lived in Japan. It's nice to get a perspective on Japan that's not from some crazy anime fan. I got the impression that the country was full of weirdos that watch anime, but she says that's not true, and I'm inclined to believe her. There aren't ninjas on the street either.

I work for four hours today. Time drags at the Inn, mostly because I don't have anything to do.

I was going to talk about MI-5, but I'll do that later, because I have to get ready.

Mr. Tom Quinn

So, MI-5 from two nights ago. Spoilers ahead, although I think Brad's the only one who could've possibly seen it.

The whole episode was about Tom, more or less, which I was very happy about, to say the least. Tom ended up going undercover and posing as husband and wife with this woman. Suffice to say, it didn't end well.

My two favorite scenes. The first was excruciating, very well-acted and well-edited. The bad guy (sorry, forgot his name) burned Tom's "wife"'s face in boiling oil and then shot her right and front of him. The look on his face...yet he still couldn't stop it. He was lying there, beaten, with everything falling apart around him, and he refused to give them any information about MI-5. He made the choice. He let the woman die. And all that showed in his face.

Then, the scene where Zoie finds him. He's alone in this abandoned building, huddled into a corner. She walks in and asks him what's going on. He stares at her with this pleading look on his face. Blood's running from his nose and he's just staring at her, so frightened. And trust me, this is not a guy who frightens easily.

One of the reasons I like Tom is that there are so many heroes who put family first. Jack Bauer, for one. They always seem to make it through, even though they place a higher priority on their loved ones than their jobs. They never really suffer. Granted, Jack's wife died and he feels responsible for that to some degree, but it wasn't like he personally sentenced her to death. I mean, she knew he was a CTU agent. Tom always puts the job first, and sometimes he endangers people he loves. It's selfish, in a way, but also unselfish. He's willing to accept pain and loss. He's inviting it, in fact. Somehow, I find that more heroic than putting your family above everything else.

Then there was the immortal line "It's a big flat, and...it's big."
