And I may be able to pull off writing a paper comparing movie!Vincennes and book!Vincennes. Because a full blown comparison of the entire book and the entire film...well, there actually isn't a page limit, but I'm really not keen on missing my flight tomorrow.

I'm thinking I might write about how the film is sort of an anti-noir, what with the naturalistic lighting and the girl being nice and all. We were discussing genre yesterday and my prof made an offhand remark about LA Confidential being in some ways entirely tongue-in-cheek, which is intriguing.

And maybe I'll quote Chandler. This essay has the potential to kick serious ass.

"A remark by a top ABC executive at the end of the network's February sweep conference call Tuesday set the town abuzz about a possible offshoot from its veteran legal drama The Practice.

'We are in active discussions with David E. Kelley about another show that will share some of the same blood with The Practice',said Lyoyd Braun,chairman of ABC Entertainment Television Group,who declined to elaborate.

There has been speculation that the new show might feature some of the more recent additions to the cast of the series or James Spader's character in a different line of work. But sources stressed that the plans for a new series are not contingent on Spader,who came aboard this season as an ethically challenged lawyer after Kelley dumped many of the cast members in order to stave off cancellation."
