So approximately two months later, I got my brother his birthday present. It's the collector's edition of Bubba Ho-Tep, and features Bruce Campbell as Elvis. It's a good present, if I do say so myself, although I've yet to watch it (it has a 7.9 at imdb, which is higher than sex, lies and videotape...). The guy at the store forgot to charge me for it, which was nice.

Other than that...my dad got back from India yesterday. He seems pretty wiped. He got me some nice Bollywood films to watch. I'll have to see if they work on my DVD player. No musical version of Reservoir Dogs, unfortunately.

And that's about it. I bought Cool Hand Luke and now I kinda want to see Hud.

Bubba Ho-Tep = best movie I've seen in a very long time. Mostly because I love Bruce Campbell, but it was very good.

NO CAROLYN NO! I watched Hud to get EC in Parker's class last year, and let me just say that it sucked. Hard. It was about all this cowboy-drama that made no sense and just stretched on and on and then in the movie's pivotal scene, they don't even show them slaughtering all the cattle! It's just completely ridiculous. Even young hot Paul Newman isn't worth it.

hullo! i don't know you but i was hoping you could clear up for me what a "three pipe problem" actually means. sorry to presume.

Oh, sure. It's a Sherlock Holmes reference (from the story "The Red Headed League," I think). It's just a problem that requires a lot of thinking--Holmes would have to smoke three pipes before he solved it.

haha. thankyou! i knew it was somewhere in sherlock holmes but couldn't remember what sense it actually made and didn't want to go back through a thousand pages of stories to find it. thankyou!

No problem!

your brother's birthday present

You were okay with not being charged for the gift? I never am. I mean about things like getting back too much change, being charged the wrong price and it's in my favor. I want to be but I always have such remorse later, that it ruins it. I've learned to speak up about such things. But I've been around the block a few times. Maybe that's why.

I think if he'd given me the wrong change I would have gone back, but as it was...if he completely forgets to charge me, his till won't be off and the only one who's screwed out of money is Best Buy (and I suppose the people who made the movie). I really don't care that much about Best Buy.
