Okay, someone needs to write me Harry Lime/Holly Martins right this very instant.

I just saw the movie. I read the book the week before, so I was already yearning for some, but now I DEMAND IT.

I've never read it, but there's plenty o' slash potential in Greene, generally. "The Quiet American," man --

Oh, I can't slash Pyle and Fowler. I caaaaaan't. But
The Third Man
has all these cute flashbacks to Lime and Martins in school, and Lime's always whistling this song he managed to convince Martins he composed himself...

Pyle//Fowler OTP
really, no? I'm thinking movie more than book (Fraser, yum -- great job of making me go gaga for a character I hated in the source.
but yes, Harry/Holly would be love. bonus points, of course, for being Welles & Cotten

Nonononono. I only saw the movie once and I don't like Fraser, but regardless, Fowler would never do it!!
I can't believe nobody's written it. Curse you, fandom, and your gay cowboy fixation.

Are you suggesting that Fowler's apparent contempt for Pyle was actual contempt, and not a repressed desire to fuck like rabbits?
You may be kicked out of fandom for that.
You don't have to like Fraser; that leaves more for me.

For not seeing Pyle and Fowler's true love? If you kick me out, you're going to be the only person left in The Quiet American fandom.
Take him. Please.

Well, I was working on some Charlie Kane/Jed Leland, which is essentially the same pairing...
