Buddies! Pals! Help me!

I have a "creative submission" due today as part of my membership application to this literary society (I'm still marvelling at the fact that I had the guts to apply at all, believe me). Anyway, I have to do it this afternoon (as well as write a speech about Todd Haynes, to be delivered tonight. At least I <3 Todd Haynes. Unlike Sri Lanka.). So, right. My question is: any ideas as to what I should do? PLEASE! Otherwise I might just end up writing Alan Shore-ness, which probably would not endear me to the people evaluating my application. Or really bad poetry.

Write about the growing submissive tendencies of traditional paper written culture to the internet typed culture and how it is even affecting the spoken culture, or you could contrast the three and argue how the internet culture is starting to replace the spoken culture as the common medium... i.e. people use aim/text msg'ing instead of calling if more convenient...

Either that or you could write a parallel between a happy joyous personality type thing to that of a dark barren cavernous mind and how one is the inverse apparition of the other. But who created who?

Those are my 2 ideas for you. G'luck!

Those are really good (and rather compelling) ideas. Unfortunately, they require actual thought, so I'm gonna have to nix them.

Ouchies. Wish I had some good ideas for you...what about writing about the process of creating or writing about a character, and how not only does the traits of the author affect the character, but the character, once created, can also affect the author?

Hell, that's crap.

Never mind. Good luck, though.

I say, just go for it, essay wise I am talking about, nothing is worse than bad poetry.

So true. Especially if it rhymes.
