Hmmm,
The Longest Day appears to be playing on the Penn Video Network. Either that, or there's a movie starring both John Wayne and Richard Burton that I haven't heard about. So, yeah. Might as well turn this into a real entry.
Today, I learned who Parnell is! I found this rather exciting, because Irish authors reference him all the time. I also learned some Irish history, and a bit about "Irish" (Gaelic) as a language. Did you know that the "I would" constuction is primarily Irish? I was thinking that "I should" was the equivalent British construction, but I really have no idea. I dunno, I just found that really fascinating, if only for writing Irish characters, as opposed to English. Speaking of which, I wish I could find an Irish lit. character to introduce to London Calling, because it would be so damn cool. And I'm going to be learning so much about Ireland anyway this semester.
I also read about 100 pages of
Good Omens when I should have been reading 100 pages of several other books instead. I love the references to Vaughan Williams and Wilde. And the film really needs to star Sam Rockwell in some way, shape, or form.
Intolerable Cruelty comes out October 10th!
( And I want to make a Holmes icon with this on it )
