First of all, a
Ulysses update: There's a film coming out! I dunno about Stephen Rea as Bloom (I actually considered him during my casting call), but at least he's Irish and he's been good in all the films I've seen him in. (Incidentally, his character in
The Crying Game was named Fergus. "Who goes with Fergus?" Wow, I'm becoming as incomprehensible as Stephen).
Anyway, here's
IMDB's page and
the official site (it has drawings and reviews and a trailer...I am in heaven).
It's filming all in Dublin, which is beyond cool. And the actress who plays Molly has been garnering lots and lots of praise. I'm not familiar with the actor who plays Stephen, but he was really impressive in the trailer. Although he wasn't wearing mourning clothes. And I can screencap the trailer! And it has Howth Hill in it! Although it only seems to show Bloom doing really sketchy things, like going to the bathroom and farting and preparing to masturbate. I found that strange. And is the citizen supposed to have one eye? Is that commonly accepted? Oh well. I found it cool nonetheless.
The bad news? The only release date I can get is for Ireland. (June 16, 2004. 100 years later. Squee!) I'm sure I can get a bootleg off ebay or something, but still...I desperately want to go to Dublin to see it.
Hmm. I should prolly wrap up the
Ulysses portion of today's broadcast. I really liked Circe, particularly the end, with Stephen getting all drunk and rebellious and belligerent in an incoherent way. Then there was the image of him passing out and Bloom standing over him, protecting him. So cute.
Not much else is going on, besides the AURP thing, which I'm not up to tackling at the moment. I have to remember to watch 24. Don't want it to go the way of MI-5, especially since it has Tony.
Oh, this was odd. I talked to David yesterday about Rufus Wainwright, of all people. Appparently he's really big with the Canadians *snerk* It's just strange how he can go to college in Toronto and I can go to Philly and the end result is that we both end up liking Rufus Wainwright. Which reminds me, I should try to get concert tickets.
Christ, I hate how everyone just expects things from me when I'm working here. Not coffee, obviously. Napkins, water (which we don't have), change (which I'm not allowed to make-I mean like 4 quarters for a dollar),
free coffee because they know me (this doesn't refer to my friends. It refers to
the woman who cleans the rooftop lounge). GRRR!
