Dec. 28th, 2004 07:54 amToday's release of Garden State inspired me to refuse to go in to work. Even if someone's grandfather did die, dammit. Yes, I'm a wonderful person. Everyone should be more like me.
Went to water polo on Thursday at my dear mother's urging. This was mainly to get me to drive three insane teenage girls who insisted on singing along to whatever CD I happened to be playing. I happened to be playing Blood on the Tracks, so they sang along to "Shelter from the Storm." Mostly by shouting "SHELTER FROM THE STORM" every verse. Spectacular. And of course Blood on the Tracks also has "Tangled up in Blue," so we (read: they) had fun with that as well.
Saw Ocean's 12 on Sunday. Revelled in the sort of brain-busting meta I'd only contemplate using as a plotline in an RPG. The best part was definitely the Miller's Crossing reference, and the fact that everyone in the movie seemed to get it...but I was pretty damn sure it was lost on everyone in the theater. Oh, Steven Soderbergh. How the mighty have fallen. My hometown (give or take 10 blocks) did in fact appear, and I did in fact recognize it, unlike my sister. Apparently Danny Ocean lives there. Here. Whatever.
Not much else going on, but at some point I have to figure out what the hell Fox is doing with 24's schedule, before my brain pours out my ears from the incomprehensibility of it all.
Also! My
yuletide fic has been well-received, which makes me happy. I thought everyone, the recipient in particular, would hate it. I'm much happier with the one I wrote this year than last year's.
One day I will use this in a fic:
"Stop making literary references, Gob!"
"Allusions, Michael."
