Mar. 10th, 2005 08:21 amAll right. I haven't updated in some time, so why not? Break's almost over and I haven't done anything, which irritates me to no end. I at least want to go to Jamba Juice and get a damn smoothie. Unfortunately, I've fallen ill, so I also don't particularly want to leave my bed.
I watched Incubus with Michael. This would be the movie that's entirely in Esperanto starring William Shatner and a guy named Milos Milos. The imdb trivia for it looks something like this:
Just one year after this film came out, as its prints were being destroyed, William Shatner was cast in "Star Trek" (1966), cinematographer Conrad L. Hall got his first Academy Award nomination, actor Milos Milos murdered the estranged wife of Mickey Rooney and then killed himself, and actress Ann Atmar committed suicide.
I kind of want to do my film 101 paper on it (assignment: pick any sound film and write about the way the historical context impacted the content of the film). It's very Bunuel...ian? esque? Everything's in black and white and the satanic women have blonde hair and look cute yet vicious. And Shatner's moronic sister looks directly at the sun and goes blind, then spends the film wandering around yelling his name. Anyway, I liked the black and white, and some of it was shot in wheat fields, I believe, so there was this ripple effect made by the wind that was nice.
I saw Million Dollar Baby as well, with Brad (we need to go see more movies!). Of course I liked it, even though for some reason I'd thought I wouldn't. Clint Eastwood is really good at making slashy, angsty films. Sad that that's all I have to say about it, but I knew the ending in advance. It was just refreshing to see, because you get used to characters who aren't very engaging (as in Be Cool, the movie I had the joy of viewing on Saturday).
That's about all I've been doing. I know I should be getting more work done in advance, but...I'm not. Tonight I'm going to watch my sister's water polo team be crushed.
