The Philly Film Fest makes me happy, although it took a couple hours to read through the mega-huge program guide, and I unfortunately can't see Izo, the film summarized as follows: "A samurai travels through time with just one goal: to kill every single human on the planet." Then there was the teenage boys v. wealthy middle-aged women apocalyptic battle and the "surreal Hungarian odyssey through Budapest's sinister subway system."

I am going to see (yes, this cost me $52):

The Edukators (Hans Weingartner, German/Austrian): Three anti-globalization political activists inadvertently kidnap a wealthy businessman (and former radical).

Saint Ralph (Michael McGowan, Canadian): OMG Campbell Scott! Apparently in a Santa suit! "A wry and touching coming-of-age tale about a 1950s Catholic schoolboy who believes that winning the Boston Marathon is just the miracle he needs to save his mother." Campbell Scott is his track coach. Oh yes.

Heroin Town (Josh Goldbloom, US): "This compelling documentary asks the question: Would '60 Minutes' have any reason to manipulate or distort a story? More importantly, how would the city it scandalized respond?"

Quiet as a Mouse (Marcus Mittermeier, German): "A darkly comic German social satire--equally funny and disturbing--that follows an ordinary citizen as he decides to become a one-man vigilante police force."

The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things (Asia Argento, US): "Asia Argento directs and stars in this bold, blistering portrait of child abuse and hallucinatory torment, adapted from the fearless writings of J.T. Leroy." I don't know who calls writings "fearless," but still.

I've heard really good things about Saint Ralph. My teacher was all like, 'omg, you must see this, best movie EVAH' for awhile. So ... lucky you. :P Because I want to see it.

Hahahaha, I have no idea who the hell Asia Argento is (aside from the director of that film, obviously).

She's similar to Angelina Jolie.. in spirit and in looks. But I think Angelina Jolie is prettier. She's not a bad actress.. it would be interesting to see how well she directs.
