My mother just made my sisters turn off the TV because they were watching "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." This program is "inappropriate."
I'm very confused. How can it be inappropriate? Simply by virtue of having gay cast members/"characters"? So I guess every movie with Ian McKellen in it is inappropriate too. Or would it just be inappropriate if Ian were trying to give people makeovers?
It's times like these I'm glad I never fully explained Oz to my mom. Or the fact that I more or less read gay porn on the internet.
Reminds me of the time my dad freaked out when we were watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Only that was more amusing, because he was like "This movie's fucking GAY!" and it was scary. But it's funny now.

Date: 2003-07-30 02:38 am (UTC)I think it's hysterical. My dad wants a spin-off show where a straight brigade helps gay guys leave the house without cologne or hair gel. And fry an egg while watching sports television simultaneously. Granted, my dad's probably gayer than most...
We sit around and watch it together as a family. We are sad, sad people.
Anyway. It's a great show.
