Heh. Today in French class my teacher exhorted me to discuss The Bachelorette. In French. I made the mistake of giving her a look that said "You want me to discuss The Bachelorette. In French."

My participation grade may be dropping.

I hate participation grades. Because frankly, I don't give a shit about the hidden meanings of Charlotte's Web and I have nothing intelligent to offer to the class, so I just don't say anything. I listen. That should count as participation. / rant

Well, in most classes it's really an attendance grade, and I can see the need for participation in French class...but I have nothing to say about reality TV in English, much less French.

In my English classes it's a 'how much bullshit can you spew' grade. People get praised for the silliest things.

The Bachelorette is high quality TV. You should have loads to say about it. ;)

Think of it as practice for all those French words you learned that ARE NOT in the text book.

Yeah...I haven't even learned the ones that are in the textbook. Spanish, though...

We were learning how to say things like "I don't care one way or the other" or "This is stupid" today (for debating purposes) and I kept cracking up because those are, in terms of my class, about the most useful phrases ever. Everyone was looking at me funny.

Oh participation grades, my old Japanese class was essentially 80% participation grade. Here it's a much smaller fraction, so essentially I never participate here (surprising).

So what gives with last week's Boston Legal? It was pretty atrocious. Except for Alan sticking a cigar in his ear there was pretty much nothing else of any mild interest. And Lorie coming back from the middle of nowhere? Ugh.

Although I was amused when Alan and the black woman whose name I haven't bothered to learn because she pisses me off actually talked because of the fact that the two halves of the show now have started to interact.

I have one class where attendence is 10% and participation is another 10%. It's very blahh!
