I have so much to post about (including the new Chabon novel), but here, have some BL commentary.

First of all, whoever wrote this ep must have done a great deal of crack beforehand. Sometimes Boston Legal comes close to surpassing The Colbert Report in terms of cracktasticness, and this was one of those times. Jerry humming the opening theme (with repeated cuts to him during the credits)? Jerry and the doll? Pantsless William Shatner? The midget?

Alan in a relationship?

Actually, I have to confess I enjoy those rare occasions Alan allows himself to succumb to conventional dating practices, because...it's so awkward. On TP, he dated Dr. Cuddy Diane, and there was a scene where she barged in on him at the office because he'd begun the morning by announcing that in relationships, he leaves. He looked so taken aback. And then once he'd smoothed things over, she stared at him expectantly and it took him a good long while to figure out that he ought to give her a goodbye kiss.

And then there was Sally, which was more disastrous than it was awkward, but still had its moments--when he announced at a staff meeting that he was going to help get an ex-girlfriend who attempted to kill him released from an institution and then couldn't comprehend why this might upset his current girlfriend.

I liked the scene with the (purloined) bouquet (she only got six flowers, Paul! no cause for jealousy), particularly the eager way he presented the flowers. Knowing full well he had swiped them. What a punk. Hahahaha, and any scene involving Alan reading books in bed automatically wins my heart. The exasperated eyeroll was just a bonus.

Veering in a completely different direction...I've read a couple of the detainment cases, and since Alan's client wasn't a US citizen (although he was British, which puts him in a better position than someone from, say, Afghanistan) I very much doubt he'd end up seeing any sort of settlement.

Man, it's crazy that some of these claims are being brought under the Alien Tort Claims Act, which is part of the Judiciary Act of 1789.

Anyway, I suspect the judge allowed the motion to proceed because she was still hoping to see Alan without his pants.

Aaaand that's about it, since I've tired myself out. Jerry is very cute and it's about time they made him a full cast member (I assume that's what will or has happened, anyway).

Seconding all that you said. Ahahahahahahahah god what an ep.

Paul says... no, he's not saying anything, just giving Alan a look that successfully manages to combine the best elements of "bitch, please" and "you think I actually care?"

If only I'd won my bet. I could've forced my water polo coach to watch and he would have been making "wtf" faces the whole time. Ahahahaha, and I would've had to explain the Schmidtho to him.

Alan's more familiar with that look than he'd care to admit. He's combatting it by endeavoring to look innocent.
