List seven songs you are into right now. no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.
Cindy - Ola Podrida
I can't find the lyrics to this one anywhere, but near as I can tell, it's about a woman who burns down her house then runs back inside to save a library book because she can't afford any more late fees. It starts out soft and slow and gradually builds. I highly recommend it.
Atlantic City/Murray - Pete Yorn
I love "Atlantic City" (all
likeadeuce's fault). One day I will post all ten (?!?!) covers of it that I have. But the reason I'm really into this song is "Murray," which is a manic anthem to...God, I don't know. Hahaha, imdb says it's in Igby Goes Down, if that tells you anything.
This Time Tomorrow - The Kinks
Otherwise known as the song from The Darjeeling Limited's trailer.
Run the Red Light - British India
fence_post is responsible for this one. It's loud rock (as in, the lyrics are basically shouted at some points) but damn is it catchy.
Santa Clara - The National
Probably the exact opposite of Run the Red Light--slow and elegiac.
Smith & Jones Forever - Silver Jews
Another of those slow-building songs. This one has some fairly awesome lyrics, even if I'm unable to make sense of them. A (fairly coherent) excerpt:
I've got two tickets to a midnight execution.
We'll hitchhike our way from Odessa to Houston
and when they turn on the chair
something's added to the air
when they turn on the chair
something's added to the air forever
Plastic Jesus - Paul Newman
From Cool Hand Luke. It's Paul Newman! Singing! In Cool Hand Luke!
Okay, I tag
deviousli,
dien,
bitterbyrden,
lawrencered,
moofoot and...anyone else who wants to.

Date: 2007-08-22 02:01 am (UTC)Although your Homicide ficlet involving a discussion of the song probably didn't help matters.
