Books n' stuff
Jul. 23rd, 2003 08:51 amOK, I've pretty much recovered from my brother's horrendous betrayal. About Navy Pier yesterday. It was highly amusing, because I went there with Megan, Caitlin M, Caitlin B, and Megan's (hot) French cousin, Julian. But Caitlin O and Dina had been invited. They decided that Navy Pier wasn't cultured enough for them and they wanted to go to the art institute. I guess the whole thing had been Megan's idea because she thought Julian would like to see some of the city. Julian hates art, so I get the impression that Caitlin O and Dina just decided to go to the Art Instituute kinda randomly.
The problem is they're both massive overachievers with nothing to do during the summer. Maybe they should've stayed home and written college essays.
The humor comes in when they decide to convince Megan & co to go to the Art Institute instead of Navy Pier. Caitlin O calls her up and literally talks for fifteen minutes straight with Julian just standing there, not saying a word. Then he gives the phone to Megan and Megan has the privledge of being asked the question, "Who doesn't find suits of armor exciting?"
We ended up meeting them for lunch at Navy Pier. They were nice (particularly Dina, who's always fun to talk to), but we couldn't help teasing them when they had to leave. Caitlin O is just so prissy and uptight and convinced she's so much more intelligent than everyone. It was rather amusing.
Other activities during the trip included:
* Megan pole dancing multiple times (don't ask)
* Megan flirting with the guy who ran the trolley service
* Caitlin M trying to flirt with the guy who ran the trolley service
* Getting a free poster for Chuck Palahniuk's Lullaby and discussing Chuck with a clerk at a book store
* Sitting in the vestibule on the train because there were no seats
* Riding the ferris wheel (can you say waste of money?)
* Trying to throw one another's shoes out of the ferris wheel
* Trying to fill buckets with holes in the bottom with water from the fountains while old people looked on in horror
It was fun. I'm invited to Caitlin M's b-day party today, only I don't know when it is. I do have an idea for a present, though.
( Now for the books )
