The obligatory MI-5 post
Aug. 6th, 2003 04:03 pmI was really damn tired last night, but that didn't keep me from watching MI-5 (nor did it prevent my staying up until 2:30 RPing, but that's another story). It wasn't as good as last week's episode, but that was to be expected since last week's was on par with "Cuts Like a Knife" in terms of angst.
I liked how Tom took responsibility for the situation. He's very connected with his team. Even though he's not often on screen with them, he's always communicating with them and very concerned about their wellfare. Tessa's relationship with...uh...John (I think his last name was Marks) was rather predictable, but I enjoyed their final scene together, thanks to some good acting. It wasn't overdone, which is always appreciated.
My favorite scene was, I believe, the final scene (they usually are, for some reason). Tom's "birthday party" with his family. He's kind of curled up on a couch drinking scotch or something, and the little girl (whose name escapes me) comes and cuddles up to the side he was shot on. And he just holds her close, doesn't really say anything. He doesn't have the courage to to tell them the truth (but apparently he will next week).
I keep thinking they're going to introduce Tom/Zoe. It's hard to tell, though. It could just be a Mulder/Scully working relationship vibe. Although we all know how that ended.
And even though I knew Anthony Stewart Head was going to be on the next episode, that didn't stop me from literally springing to my feet and shouting "GILES!" when the promo came on. It wasn't even planned, just a reaction that scared the crap out of my family. I have no idea what the plot was, because all that was going through my head was "Giles Giles Giles Giles Tom Giles Giles Giles." A complex thought process, I know.
For those of you who don't know the first thing about MI-5 (read: everyone), I'll probably have a real post later. After I go play DDR with
