What I do on my weekends
Nov. 2nd, 2003 10:34 amI share Becky's boredom with NaNoWriMo. The thing's had more publicity than Star Wars Episode One, for chrissakes. Not that I have anything against it; on the contrary. I'm just adverse to hearing about it every three seconds.
So, yesterday I went downtown with Gwen and Alex, her boyfriend (Who, incidentally, is a pretty nice guy, but has a propensity to lecture and lecture and lecture and never shut up. I'd psychoanalyze him but it's not worth the effort.). There was apparently a Grateful Dead appreciation fest (day of the dead? get it?) and we ran into a lovely man who offered us some marijuana. Fortunately, Gwen handledmost all of that lovely conversation while Alex and I snickered in the background. I picked up Crash at Tower Records for a ridiculous price. Then we returned home and literally did nothing for 3 hours. Gwen and Alex seemed to enjoy it, but it kinda drove me insane and so I had to leave. I then went to work at the cafe, which was just a disaster. I spilled espresso beans all over, the change drawer had no change, I accidentally threw out the cold press...I should so not work at night.
Water polo scrimmage today. I hope I play well, since it's against Villanova and they were trying to recruit me at one point. Saying "I hope I play well" sounds really stupid, now that I think about it. When would I hope to play poorly?
Anyway, I'm finally watching Campbell Scott's Hamlet. As I'm sure I've mentioned before, the man is a god. A lot of it lies in the subtlety of his acting, the little facial expressions we get even when he's not the focus of the scene. And of course Hamlet and Horatio are unable to stop touching one another. No, really. I'm not exaggerating. I would post screencaps, but I have no FTP. How sad. And have I mentioned that Campbell Scott is really cute, especially when he's all scared and defensive? His eyes are this really light shade of blue. For some reason it makes him look more vulnerable.
Oh, and The Practice is on tonight. We continue the saga of The Judge Who Hates Shore. Should be snarky. And I hope they develop Shore/Tara some more, since I liked the way it was done last week.
