Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.
The building, building from the side to side
There is no God up in the sky tonight--
In the moonlight something’s hiding.
(you walk into the room)
If I listened long enough to you
When I think back to the first time in my childhood,
An old man has a heart attack in the movie theater.
(you don’t know what’s going on)
She comes in colors everywhere
High, higher than the sun.
(I don’t know how I’m gonna tell you I can’t play with you no more)
Floating in the everglades,
I want you the right way.
‘Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood;
At my door the leaves are falling.
Come gather ‘round people wherever you roam
We’ll do it all
Most of the time
Our lives were one
Old man, look at my life
(you always said that I’d be back again)
...I don't even know. Feel free to guess at songs/ask me to upload them, though!

Date: 2008-11-30 05:55 pm (UTC)'Come gather round' is "The times they are a changin'." "Old Man, look at my life" is awfully familiar -- I feel like it's Neil Young but I have no basis for that. I'm horribly bad at putting lyrics back into tunes so unless i've READ the words to the song at some point, I'm at sea.

Date: 2008-11-30 06:07 pm (UTC)"Old man, look at my life" is Neil Young, from the song entitled (appropriately enough) "Old Man." It's on the Wonder Boys soundtrack, so that might be where you heard it. And you're right about "The Times They Are A-Changing," of course.
