Wow. Last night's episode was amazing. Where to begin? Tom and Salter's (Anthony Stewart Head's character) relationship was adorable. And angsty. And oh so slashy. I've already discussed some of this elsewhere, so this probably won't be the completest of accounts, but anyway. Salter was the operative who recruited Tom. Which Tom, strangely enough, doesn't like to talk about. But throughout the episode they have this very close student/mentor relationship (although it's on a more mature level, and it's slightly wistful, because Tom isn't really the student anymore). You get the sense that the two of them understand one another completely. Especially the scene where Tom is interrogating Salter. Everyone else is listening in, and it's abundantly clear that they are on the outside while these two are communicating on their own special wavelength.

And oh, was the thing heartbreaking. I think one of the reasons I like MI-5 (apart from Tom and the almost constant angst) is that it's British, so they don't use all the cliched plot devices that TV shows in the US tend to utilize. Instead they have Salter hang himself with Tom's belt, right in front of the other man's eyes. God, imagine that happening to you. And Tom totally goes home to Ellie and acts like nothing happened.

Hmm...what else? I liked the whole "Would you die for your beliefs?" question, and Tom's hesitation. And the whole reason for Salter falling in love with the random girl ("I suppose I do have one unembarassed passion. I want to know what it feels like to care about something passionately.") was very believable, at least to me. I could completely understand where he was coming form.

I wonder why Jules (the MI-6 guy) was so critical of Tom? Eh. Probably got cut. Either that, or we'll get more backstory later.

Observations/Favorite moments:
"You said you fell on a stapler." (Uh, Tom? You're a secret agent. You should be able to think of a better lie than that.)
"Goodnight, sweet ladies." (He quotes Eliot! *swoon*)
"I think you just cracked me." And the whole interrogation. So tense at first, then just incredibly emotional.
Tom watching Salter take a piss. Especially since Salter made some suggestive remark that I can't remember right now. Wow, this sounds really bad out of context.
The hanging.
Tom telling Ellie he's a spy. And being distant.
And, of course, Salter thwapping Tom with his newspaper! Cute beyond words! (Hmm. Need screencap. Now.)

Well, things have been interesting at my house. Fortunately, my mom is gone today. I have no clue why, but she's out of town. Unfortunately, my sister has already threatened my other sister with a knife, so I have all of our kitchen knives in a box next to my bed (it's the box Toby came in, though, so it's full of styrofoam). The knife-wielding sister keeps crying. I don't know if it's because of the divorce, because she's a drama queen, or because she has some psychological disorder. Whatever. She annoys the crap out of me. Me? Highly insensitive? Nah.

I stayed up till 5 am RPing and chatting. As always, it was good fun. My sister (the fat one, not the serial killer one) had her radio on the whole time. No, she was not awake. She went to bed at like 9. Why doesn't she buy a freaking CD and listen to that? I can hear Kiss FM playing in her room, which is separated from mine by 2 doors and a hallway.

Oh, Starbucks yesterday. Me and Brooke (my shift) got really hyper, since the customers kind of abandoned us after 6. So we created Marvin the latte (he was originally named Peter, even before I knew the name of Tony Head's MI-5 character, but Brooke said that reminded her of the male genitalia, so I renamed him). Marvin had a smiley face and angry eyebrows. He was an iced venti latte (and that's how you should say it when ordering, punk!). We also created Sally the Americano, so we could have When Marvin Met Sally. They had a child named Patty. Patty the blueberry cake. Patty cake, get it? Man, were we bored. Brooke even introduced Marvin to a customer. She said, "This is my friend Marvin." He thought she said, "This is my friend puking." So then she proceeded to squirt out part of the latte in the sink while making BLEEEEH noises. I kid you not, Sammi.

That's all that's new in my little world. Except that I finished A Study in Scarlet and saw Mr. Kuhl. Not much of a story there, though. He asked me where our garbage was.

I'm going to go buy Achtung Baby, since I've downloaded half the album on Kazaa alread. It's one of Jay Mohr's top ten albums. I agree with him about three: Nevermind, Sticky Fingers (so good), and Achtung Baby. A couple of the others are jazz, which I appreciate but can't take in large doses.

EDIT: What are all these weird people doing in my driveway?
