I'm rather tired. So tired, in fact, that I walked out of the very loud screening of Apocalypse Now Redux on a ginormous screen. Right before Kurtz came on, too. It was the damn plantation sequence that did it. I couldn't understand a word anyone said.

So, today. I went to a boring three hour presentation on the honour code and safety. The safety portion was mildly amusing, because they showed a video, which included footage of unsuspecting victims leaving their doors unlocked and stepping outside for a few seconds while some crafty character sneaks down the hall testing all the doors, finds the door unlocked, runs in and swipes a laptop. It was funny. Trust me.

Then we went on a tour of Philly, which was really very interesting, except for the good half hour of pouring rain. Philly is actually laid out in a grid system, which makes it easy to find your way around. All the east-west streets are named after trees (although I had no idea "Locust" was a type of tree; I just thought it was a plague) and all the north-south streets are numbered. I discovered 2 theaters that show indie movies, and explained the plot of The Secret Lives of Dentists to someone who somehow ended up wanting to see it after listening to me gush over Campbell Scott.

Then we went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They had bought out the entire museum for the class of '07, so it rocked. There is a lot to be said for looking at paintings by yourself. I was only there for about an hour, but I did get to see some interesting European stuff (including Van Gogh and a Grimshaw painting that fascinated the hell out of me) and a lovely photography exhibit.

It's by William Turner.

No, not Orlando Bloom's character from PotC.
