This is a meme. Not something I'm randomly doing. But I forgot who I nicked it from.

1. Lawrence of Arabia (the sets, the dialogue, Peter O'Toole, the slashiness, LAWRENCE!)

2. Roger Dodger (the dialogue. my god, the dialogue. Campbell Scott, the darkness/wistfulness of the film, despite it also being very very funny)

3. Apocalypse Now (the surrealism of it all, the images, Capt. Willard, the, uh, horror)

4. Miller's Crossing (the world-weariness, the cynicism, the subtle humor, the Coen brothers' made up vernacular)

5. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (the humor, the darkness, the incredibly violent humor and darkness, SAM ROCKWELL!!)

6. The Big Lebowski ("It's like what Lenin said... you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh..." "I am the walrus." "You know what I'm trying to say..." "That fucking bitch..." "I am the walrus." "Shut the fuck up, Donny! V.I. Lenin. Vladimir Illanich Uleninov!")

7. Blue Velvet (the images, the music, the complete and utter freakiness)

8. L.A. Confidential (the CHARACTERS, the dialogue, the cast, the way they managed to make an incomprehensible plot comprehensible, that look Kevin Spacey gets in his eyes when he says he doesn't remember why he became a cop)

9. The English Patient (because I like it, damn you!, the music, the dialogue, the cast, the sense of loss that pervades the film, Almasy, Caravaggio, constant literary references, the near personification of the desert)

10. Reservoir Dogs (once more, the dialogue, the music, the "Stuck in the Middle with You" scene, the characters, the cast, "That's easy for you to say. You're Mr. White. You have a cool-sounding name.", the conversation about tipping, Nice Guy Eddie's cell phone)
