Well, I did want this first entry to be "groundbreaking," so to speak, but I'm too tired to get into anything deep, philosophical, or remotely funny. Today's my birthday, and the house is astir already because my mom is panicking. I would too, if I had to pick up all the crap my brothers and sisters leave around. Oh, wait. I do. But only until August 28th.
OK, I do have something remotely funny to say. It's irrelevant, but I don't think Brad will mind, and he's the only person who might read this. A week or so ago, I read this review of a play that opened in Highland Park, "The Sign of the Four" (it's based on the Sherlock Holmes book, although I think the book is called The Sign of Four. Like anyone cares.). So the reviewer basically said that the play was pretty good. The production values were so-so but the acting was top-notch and the writing/characterization was good. He mentioned Holmes being portrayed as almost egomaniacal and Watson as a "lovesick puppy" or something along those lines. Being me, I assumed that Watson was in love with Holmes and therefore became very determined to see this play (can anyone else see Lee Tergesen as the perfect Watson? I wonder if he can do an English accent).
Then, about three days later, I read a review and a realization hit me.
The Sign of Four is the book where Watson meets his wife. How disappointing.
But Holmes is extremely jealous, if I recall.
Hmm, that wasn't such a bad entry after all.
