So, I had my Irish Lit class (nearly wrote Ulysses class there) and my teacher asked about Halloween before we started (we talked about Oxen of the Sun, incidentally, and Stephen's bitterness towards his mother that cannot be remedied with words, but that's not the point)--did we have fun, did we dress up, etc.

Then, as a joke: "Anyone dress up as Bloom?"

I, of course, did not say anything. I didn't even have a coughing fit, which I thought was rather mature of me. But still. It was funny as all hell.

Then there was the quiz question "What does Bloom write in the sand on the beach?
a) I AM, b) I AM A, c) I AM HERE or d) LB [heart] MB."

Well, I found it funny. Hilarious, actually. Although I would have preferred LB [heart] SD, but that's just me.

As if that weren't enough, he went on to point out a scene (14.80 or so for anyone with a copy. Yes, Ulysses is my Bible) where Bloom is walking with a nun. It's in middle english, so it's hard to understand. But the nun is all "Poor guy. He's Jewish, I should convert him so he doesn't burn in hell." And she crosses herself and all.

Meanwhile, Bloom is thinking, "Wonder what it'd be like to sleep with a nun?"

So yes. My day has been made. I'm looking forward to "Circe," which is in screenplay format. And the Stephen/Bloom fanfic is coming soon.

Hahahaha. I don't think he'd have spoken to me ever again.

Philo? You mean the meeting/party? It was good. A rather unconventional way to spend Halloween, though, especially since the lit ex concerned economics (it was kind of interesting, though). That and everyone got really drunk afterwards, which was simultaneously frightening and amusing.

How was your Halloween? Did the suit of armor arrive in time?

hehehe

that bad, eh? Well, the suit of armour is some where in transit - poor chap had to wear this $7 thing and drape my cloak over it. And funny it was - a knight with a pirate's scimatar. It took me about an hour to sew sleeves on my dress, so that was fun, and it doesn't look too bad. Nice basic stuff. I'll show you a pic if i ever have the chance. Ended up not doing too much - just walk down to a friend's house - who wasn't in - and then discovered that cat's craddle's fun :) Let's see...spent a couple of hours on the computer, and then some soul calibur. I guesss it was the lit ex which was suppose to be happening the night of a thousand presentations. Yup, nothing about getting drunk. I can imagine everyone at philo...and, wish I hadn't.
