My rug now has (multiple) bloodstains on it, and while I think it adds character to the room, I doubt housing will appreciate it. Good thing I'm switching at the semester.

Did you know that you're not supposed to tip your head back when you have a nosebleed? You can apparently drown in your own blood that way.

Random bit of trivia I learned in grade school.

I knew the not tipping back thing, but I didn't know you could actually drown...

Someone on our team got elbowed in the nose this weekend and the lifeguard told her to tilt her head back. Idiot. Fortunately she didn't listen to him.

Could just be something the teacher said to scare us, but it seems reasonable. Goes down the wrong pipe.

Also, apparently vinegar is a good coagulating agent, you soak a tissue in some vinegar and hold it up to your nose and the blood clots faster. Eew. And then you sneeze blood clots, but it's better than tipping your head back.
