All-around favorite: Lawrence of Arabia
Best Sci-fi/Fantasy genre: Most sci-fi/fantasy movies suck. Yes, it's a fact. Um...Blade Runner or Dark City, I guess.
Best action movie: I don't watch action movies as much as you'd think...Apocalypse Now, since I ain't seeing a war movie category anywhere. And Reservoir Dogs. I cheat, I know.
Best romance: Ha. The English Patient. So, so tempted to say Roger Dodger. It didn't say successful romance.
Best teen zeitgeist movie: I don't have the slightest idea what that means. And I'm really not a fan of teen movies. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, I guess, although Better Off Dead and Less than Zero get points for...being strange.
Best all-out comedy: The Big Lebowski
Best musical: Moulin Rouge
Best animated: HA! Finding Nemo (because I watch so many animated films...)
Best documentary: I think I've seen all of two. Oh! The documentary we watching in psych about the Stanford prison experiment! And all the zimbardo films!
Best noir/mystery movie: Hmm. This is my genre. Miller's Crossing. I hate to use so many Coen movies, but there ya go.
Best escapist fantasy: Er...Goldfinger
Best "bad" movie: I have a thing for Top Gun, although I wouldn't say it's the best bad movie. There's also this Kiefer Sutherland movie called Eye of the Killer that I've seen *way* too many times.
Best chick flick: Does About a Boy count? Probably not, since I liked it. Eh. Wait, OK. English Patient goes here and...The End of the Affair under romance. Ralph Fiennes overload, I know, but End of the Affair is my kind of romance. Which is to say extremely depressing.
Best space opera: Why the hell is this here? Everyone is going to name a Star Wars movie. Fine. Battlefield Earth.
Best dark comedy: Roger Dodger, baby.
Best drama (I added this. Why wasn't it there before?): Well, eliminating Lawrence...The Godfather. Boring, but true.
