I feel ready to update this thing now that I've had some tasty scones from Don's. I've only recently discovered what an awesome store Don's is. They have British candy! Like Crunchie bars and Flakes! And everyone there is really nice and cheerful, even early in the morning. They honestly have a huge staff and I have no idea how they make any money because there wasn't anyone in the store, but it's such a lovely place to be. Much better than Jewel, which tires me out whenever I go there with the long lines and the wandering. And Clearly Canadian water is only 10 cents more than soda.

Oh, so Pirates of the Carribean (thought I'd forgotten all about it, eh?). The online consensus is that it rocks, and, well, it does. Orlando Bloom is a crappy actor and the love story absolutely sucked. It was quite possibly the least believable love story I've ever seen, with the exception of Reyes/Doggett. But anyway, the good things. Johnny Depp. Quirky and funny and cute and continually getting bitch slapped. He was amazing. He made the movie, basically. I loved his first scene when they're playing intense high-seas pirate music and he's standing tall on top of the mast...and then the camera tilts and you see that he's like 4 feet off the deck in a boat full of water. And when he takes off his hat for the dead pirates...and his ending speech ("It would never have worked out between us."). Geoffrey Rush was good, but he didn't have much to work with. I liked his little parley, though, with Elizabeth. That was good. The writers did a good job taking advantage of all the wonderful things pirates have to offer. YAAAAR!

"Cuts Like a Knife"...God, just typing out the name is depressing me. I'm gonna go cry. The last fifteen minutes are brutal. But in a good, angsty way. Some classic Keller. Knocking Beecher out, the scene between the two of them. Maybe the reason I haven't watched Oz in a whole day is that Keller is gone. It was so sweet. And then McManus got shived and Murphy cradled him in his arms...And Brad confirmed my suspicions about season 6 after I watched it, which made me all the more depressed (thanks a lot, fuckass). But knowing that Beecher gets parole, I couldn't see it ending any other way. Unless Beecher got re-barred, found a loophole, and sprung Keller. Which isn't very likely. Angus might be able to do it, though. OK, I'm done.

Both Beecher and Keller hate themselves. Beecher's self-loathing, however, involves a great deal of self-pity.

Keller? Self-pity? Notice how those two words aren't even in the same sentence?

The weird thing is the swimming badge. Because that's reasonably accurate. But not much else is, so I don't know why I'm fixated.

My family is milling around in the kitchen waiting to go to Gurnee to see a movie that started 15 minutes ago.

meloni: how about you fly [me and Lee] to the UK (business), YOU get naked and we beat you unconscious with a geometry book. is that fun enough?

I love and adore Chris Meloni.

Want context? It's at the bottom of the page.

I also rented Shaft (Lee Tergesen! Christian Bale!) which I'm watching first.

Make your Own Movie Here!

Yeah, this is going to be my first movie. Crispin Glover goes back in time to kill John Philip Sousa, the evilest composer ever. It's a winner all right. I have no idea what Laura Linney, JK Simmons, Eliza Dushku, and Jay Mohr will be doing during all this, but whatever. I really wanted Cronenberg or Lynch to direct, but it wasn't an option.

Chicago fanfic. Pretty short, all dialogue. If you really want to make me happy, read and respond. Billy Flynn/Amos Hart, but nothing too graphic. It's dialogue.

Let's see Billy tap dance his way outta this one. )

I'm back from walking out of LXG. This is the first movie I've ever walked out of, actually, except for The Hulk, which I kinda had to leave. I didn't mind the movie very much. Sure, it was incredibly stupid and the plot twists made no sense, but it was mildly amusing to see characters from literature interacting. It was a lot like reading bad fanfic.

And...DORIAN GRAY WAS IN IT! Why doesn't anyone tell me these things? Of course, he ended up being a traitor (which was when I decided it was OK for us to leave). I'm not exactly giving away state secrets here; what else is Dorian gonna do in an action movie? He's immortal (Apparently. I don't agree with that interpretation.)! Half...no, a good 2/3 of the characters were completely ridiculous, but the set design was nice. Once Dorian was gone (or the prospect of developing his character, rather), I had no reason to stay.

I liked to hear people yelling "DORIAN!" though. I just love that name.

And Shane West reminded me of Lee Tergesen at certain random points.
