Ha, I love CAPSLOCK rage. I will totally enable you.
But... water? Really? Have the writers ever watched their own show? Do they suffer from some sort of memory loss, that they can't remember Alan outfishing Denny? Something that resulted in Denny shooting a fish, upsetting the guide and being put in time-out, one of my very favourite BL moments?
I DON'T KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. IT RUINED THE WHOLE EPISODE FOR ME (not that it took much--it was one of the worst eps I've seen).
I can't...ARGH. COME ON, WRITERS. Surely you can think of ways to make Denny and Alan's storyline interesting without constantly adding to Alan's (already impressive) collection of irrational fears and mental peculiarities?
I hate when show writers rely on a crutch of some sort to inform story lines. Grey's Anatomy, which I am in no way comparing to BL in terms of awesomeness, I hasten to add before I start you off in another capslock rage, it's just that it's way guilty of this particular crime, relies on either couples getting together or couples breaking up to create story lines. And constantly doing that systematically ruins characters, makes them OOC, or just completely unlikeable. It's lazy, uncreative writing! It's impossible for me to watch without bitching out the tv now. My housemate loves it and I'm banned from the room when it's on.
Plus, Denny and Alan! They are already interesting enough!
AHAHAHA I TOO HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM WATCHING Grey's. Oh, man. Did you read the saga of me losing a bet and having to watch an episode (granted, the person I lost to was very kind and bought me a pint of Stephen Colbert ice cream to eat during the ordeal)? The episode featured AD Skinner from The X-Files with a FISH IN HIS URETHRA. It also contained the (serious OMFG) line "You are my penis fish."
But I digress.
YES. And I'm sure the writers could've thought up another reason to make them flunk the water rescue test.
(There is such a thing as Steven Colbert icecream? Truly we live in a golden age.) Ahaha, I think I missed that episode. Sadly. It does sound like a sound example of the smooth way they turn patients into inappropriate metaphors for the personal problems of the doctors. In another episode there was something about a gangrenous foot that would have to be removed representing someone's avoidance issues? I can't be sure, I was pretty busy laughing.
Oh, BL. Don't make me include you in a comment mocking Grey's Anatomy. I don't like it.
